The Subregional Strategy translates objectives of the NSW Government's Metropolitan Strategy and State Plan to the local level. Local councils were consulted during its preparation.
The draft North West Subregional Strategy was exhibited between 24 December 2007 to 28 March 2008.
Submissions were received from a range of stakeholders including the community, Government agencies, development industry and local Councils. These submissions are currently being reviewed as part of the process of finalising the subregional strategies.
When finalised, the draft North West Subregional Strategy will continue to guide land-use planning until 2031 in the Baulkham Hills, Blacktown, Blue Mountains, Hawkesbury and Penrith local government areas.
Subregional strategies will remain a key planning tool for councils to implement the metropolitan strategy.
Once the metropolitan strategy has been reviewed, the subregional strategies will be updated.
